on the female model, and an exciting abstract background,
embraces both John's desire for fine art painting
and his love of colour found in today's contemporary
figurative paintings.
In this figure study John has used an acrylic wash stained
over the canvas as background into which the figure
is painted, as a change from the dramatic highlighted
images on dark backgrounds seen previously in his canvas
art painting series "Lady in Red".
