Robinia
frisia is a small tree with a gold leaf,
extremely attractive and very suitable for the small
garden.
It
is quite hardy but needs a well drained soil otherwise
it is liable to suffer die back and infection by coral
spot fungus.
The
vigour may be quite strong and the shoots are very thorny,
but it always remains a fairly small tree with magnificent
golden foliage that creates a great garden specimen
plant.
Trees
show a huge variety of colour in their foliage from
the pinks, yellow and orange of the spring flush, summer
strong greens to the vivid reds and golden orange of
autumn, and this can be seen in this link to John's
paintings of the Scottish
landscape.
