Rose
bushes bring a garden to life in summer with mixed beds of
hybrid teas and floribundas, a range of English shrub roses,
grown for their colour and scent, and climbers which add height,
scent and colour to fences.
David Austin has supplied many of the Shrub English roses,
e.g. Benjamin Britten and Gertrude Jekyll, and Cockers Roses
of Aberdeen have supplied many bush roses, e.g. Myriam and
William Quarrier.
John has used the shrub rose Gertrude Jekyll as a climber
on a west facing wall to add colour and scent to his patio.
See the link below for Gertrude Jekyll.
John
has painted many pictures of his bush and shrub roses and
also published a limited edition print of his National
Trust hybrid tea roses.
